What Russian Souvenirs Can I Buy?

       If you are going to travel in Russia and you are interested to buy souvenirs from this country, there is a great variety of Russian symbols and handicrafts in Russian souvenirs stores nowadays. Here is just a short list of what you can buy in Russian stores to bring back to your country.

Russian Matryoshka (dolls)

       Russian Matryoshka is one of the best Russian souvenirs. It is a set of masterfully carved wooden dolls. You can even buy a Russian Matryoshka that will look like a Russian president, members of a popular band or characters from a Russian fairy tale.

Carved Wooden Tableware

       There are wonderful carved wooden dishes, spoons and kitchen decorations in Russia. Some of them are painted in red and golden on a black background and later lacquered. Others are simply polished, carved and burnt in a nice pattern.

Cheburashka Toy

       Cheburashka is a fictional character of a series of Russian cartoons which lately became a symbol of Russian Olympic team and a theme for a large variety of Russian souvenirs. It looks like a weird animal with large ears and thick hair.

Military and Soviet Badges

       There is a large number of badges of Russian military forces, badges-replicas from soviet times and badges that have modern Russian symbols. Such badges can be nice Russian souvenirs - small and easy to take with you on your trip.

Lapti

       Russian lapti are bast sandals that used to be worn my peasants and poor people. They are usually not worn in modern Russia nowadays, but are made as a souvenir and home decoration.
