Russian Women Preserve the Russian Language

The Russian language is not solely spoken by people in Russia. There are numerous Russian diasporas in many countries. They take Russian influence and culture to new places. In general it is Russian women who bring the Russian language to different countries. This way they help preserve it abroad by teaching their children to speak in Russian.

It is hard to preserve your own native language when you are so far away from people who speak it. Teaching your child in such conditions may be even harder. Communicating with many native speakers helps develop language skills in a fast and active language environment. Therefore, when there is just one parent that can speak in Russian, the child is more likely to ignore the language that is less suitable for everyday situations. However, many Russian women consider it their national duty to pass the Russian culture and language to their children. Russian TV channels, songs, fairy-tales and books are the common tools, which women from Russia use abroad to teach Russian to their kids.

Teaching your own language to your kids is not only the matter of national pride. Knowing a language other than the one they speak in the country where you live can help your child with the future career, improve memory and develop better communicational skills. That is why women from Russia prefer to pass their knowledge to their offsprings.
