Many foreign men are blinded by certain myths about Russian ladies, commonly spread by dating agencies and  Russian ladies themselves. Having a Russian wife has almost become a fetish for many foreigners who were persuaded that a girl from Russia can be the most obedient and loving creature in the world. But we (Russian ladies) may not be as timid and tame as men may think. The purpose of this article is not to disappoint or upset anyone, but simply to discredit some myths about girls from Russia.

Russian girls are the most beautiful ones

       There is no accounting for taste. Most Russian ladies are relatively pretty, but so are any girls in the world. If someone has a special inclination for light-haired, slim and tall girls with blue eyes, then they have a better chance to find one in Russia. However, a girl with dark eyes, expressive eye-brows, black curly hair and swarthy, tanned skin is a rare phenomenon in Russia.

All Russian girls want to get married

       Yes, it's true that being closer to the Asian cultures, girls from Russia are brought up to become good wives and be family-oriented since their early childhood. Almost any Russian girl can cook, sew, and take care of her family. However, many Russian ladies in the modern world are very emancipated. They get education, build a career, save money for a future home and only then consider getting married. In Soviet period being a wife in Russia was a very respected social position. Higher education was not of such great value as it is now, and a woman standing behind her man was a common thing. However, hard times after the Soviet Union collapse changed women and their values. Now even though many girls in Russian villages get married quite early, city girls get educated and pursue a career.

Russian girls can be caring, good mothers

       Maternal instincts are more subject to genes, person's experience with babies and personal values than to nationality. Most women of any nationality have strong maternal instincts, and you don't need to marry a Russian woman only because they are believed to be better mothers. On the contrary, the difference in views on how to raise children and discipline them may be so great, that bringing children up with a Russian woman may require a lot of work, consensus and joined effort. Besides, if all girls from Russia were caring wives and wonderful mothers, there wouldn't be any Russian orphans.

Russian girls are of easy virtue

       While most Western men believe that any Russian girl is a walking specimen of modesty and dignity, in many Middle-Eastern countries they are believed to be a source of lechery and depravity. In some cases it simply reflects differences between two distinct cultures: the way girls from Russia behave and dress in a foreign country may be offensive to people from countries where the Muslim religion is predominant.
