Is it easy for a Russian girl to go abroad? Is it easy for a Russian citizen in general to go to a foreign country? No, not at all.

       When foreign men correspond to Russian women, there is a particular moment in the online relationship when they decide to meet in person. The man usually asks a Russian girl to come to his country instead of him coming to Russia. While this preference can be easily understood, there are some factors that make it difficult for a Russian girl to travel abroad.

Lack of Trust and Confidence

       When trying to imagine Russia, picture a society which was closed to the rest of the world for more than 7 decades. Imagine how different the ideas and life may be there. When a Russian person goes to another country, everything seems incredibly different from what he or she is familiar with on a daily basis. This may either scare a girl away or attract her.        Even though they do study English, German or French in Russian schools, Russian population for the most part of it does not speak any languages other than Russian.        You have probably heard stories about young Russian people not having much luck when they try to go to the U.S. or another country for a vacation. Major part of Europe and such countries as the U.S.A., U.K., Canada, are practically inaccessible to young Russian girls and boys without their own families and a highly-payed job in Russia. The common misconception is that the Russian government does not let young Russian people out of the country. However, if a Russian citizen wants to go to Turkey or Egypt, the doors are widely open. The problem is not with the Russian officials, but with the governments of the developed countries, or rather with the international relations between Russia and the developed countries. The flow of immigrants from Russia, Ukraine and Belorussia is overwhelming. That is why in order to control the situation, many countries have strict policies in their embassies and do not let young financially unstable Russian people in, even for tourism or visiting their relatives. And there is no one to blame but the way things work.

Ticket Price

       A plain ticket cost is still too much for most Russian people. In most Russian cities (except Moscow and Saint Petersburg) a common monthly salary for a normal life of a Russian citizen far from luxury and splendor is around $300-500. The cheapest return ticket from Moscow to New York that can be found online as of today (Feb, 2010) is about $700. So in order to go abroad, a Russian girl would have to wait several months saving enough money just for the ticket.

       Even though things may seem quite depressing at first sight, there are still some ways out. If things are getting really serious between the two of you, coming to Russia on the part of the groom/bride (the foreigner) would be the wisest idea. When in Russia, take more pictures together because you will need them if you want to be together and bring your beloved one to your country with a fiance(e) visa. In any case try not to put your meeting in person off for the next year or vacation no matter what the obstacles are. Experience shows that a long-distance relationship does not usually last too long if it is only based on plans, promises and virtual kisses.
