Many Russian men complain that Russian girls meet foreigners on dating sites, fall in love with them, move abroad and leave Russian guys behind. In reality it does seem like Russian and foreign men are severe competitors, fighting for the hearts of Russian women. And while the former do not seem to put much effort into the fight, the latter have already moved many Russian ladies to their countries.

       The distress of Russian men regarding this issue is very understandable. Some of them blame the poor living standards and the difficult Russian life that makes girls want to improve their lifestyle and move to a better place. However, Russia girls say that the reason for them to prefer foreigners over their fellow countrymen is in Russian men themselves. Russian men are spoiled by women's attention

       Many Russian girls think that Russian men are extremely spoiled by attention of women. It is believed that there are more girls than boys born in Russia. As girls say this is one of the main reasons why Russian men do not court their women and do not chase after them like foreigners do. On the contrary, men in Russia roll in women's attention and do not feel the need to chase after them. However, in general Russian people are more reserved and cautious in a relationship than foreigners. That is why it takes them more time to “pitch the woo” with a girl they want a serious relationship with, while foreigners take initiative much faster.

Independent dependents

       While most people in Russia become independent from their parents earlier than teenagers in other countries, men from Russia tend to want a woman to take care of them. After getting married they expect their woman to cook, wash, clean and do almost any house chores for them, which many girls with the modern mentality and feminist's views do not accept now. Even though Russian girls are very traditional and prefer taking care of their men, most career-oriented women do not have time to take care of themselves and their husbands who could share some responsibilities and do simple things for them. As apposed to Russians, foreign men are already used to taking care of themselves and splitting some responsibilities between the partners in the couple. That is why is a Russian woman wants to be a business lady (not a housewife) and wants her man to be able to take care of himself, she will most likely prefer a foreigner.

Things just get too “physical”

       An outrageous situation which is absolutely unacceptable and not common in a foreign family but is still characteristic for a Russian family is when a man beats his wife, especially when he is drunk. In Russia this scenario is possible mostly due to the lack of proper legislation, where a woman is protected from physical abuse in the family. With the situation getting too “physical” sometimes, Russian women who are now more aware of their rights leave their Russian husbands for more respective men.

       Even though men in Russia yield to many foreign men when it comes to their education and manner, we cannot generalize and judge about all Russian men by this one image. However, if you are a foreigner with good manners who knows how to treat girls right, you can become a real competitor to some Russian guy.
