Growing Divorce Rates in Russia

The number of divorced couples in Russia increases every year. The standard sequence of events includes a loud, splendid wedding with 200 guests, expensive restaurants and white limos, and a divorce paper filed 2-3 years later.

The interesting statistics show that the main reasons for divorce are as follows: cheating, alcohol consumption, drugs and domestic abuse. Surprisingly, lack of financial stability is not among the prevailing factors that contribute to the growing divorce rates in Russia.

The situation can be explained by several factors. There is a general need for family education in Russia, where most teenagers learn about relationship between sexes in alleys having a smoke rather than in classrooms and from books. Such a thing as therapy for couples, who experience problems in their marriage, is a very new phenomenon which is available only to some of the richest representatives of Russian society due to its high price.

Another reason for divorce in Russia is the fact that Russian women are becoming more independent recently. In the past it was a common practice to get married and have children within the first few years of marriage. After that the woman would already be settled and make her peace with the drinking habits or abusive nature of her husband. Now that a common Russian lady is more independent at a work place and does not plan to have children until after she is 30, she has a better idea of who she wants to be and can make better choices.

Growing divorce rates in Russia are another reason for so many single young ladies with and without children looking for foreign life partners online.
